Meet Our Team PDF Print E-mail

Our team combines for over half a century of experience in all aspects of the publishing business. In fact, most of us are still employed at publishing companies!  This is our core team, but remember that we also work with several other contractors that we have developed trusting relationships with through the years.

Photo of Brian ProffitBrian Proffit has been in various aspects of publishing for more than 20 years.  Since 1985, he has published approximately 400 magazine articles, three books, and at least 200 electronic articles.  He has edited or guided the editorial process for numerous books, including Preaching magazine's book of the year, Refining Your Style.  He has been Contributing Editor for several magazines, including PC Magazine and Computing Today.  He was Director at PC Week, and Senior Acquisitions Editor at Group Publishing.  He has written website content for several companies, finding artful ways to incorporate strategic Google keywords throughout the copy for optimum search engine optimization.  As someone who has approved (or more importantly, disapproved) hundreds of submissions, he knows what will and won't get a publisher's attention.

Photo of Michelle TschetterMichelle Tschetter is a Graphic and Web Designer who started all the way back in high school.  (Hint: those were the days of old fashioned "paste-up" way before digital layout.) She worked her way up in the industry through various jobs, including marketing assistant and designer for a large regional credit union, art director at a small advertising agency, and now owns her own advertising, marketing and web design agency, Zooma Design, LLC. Michelle's strengths are in ultra-creative marketing for small to medium sized businesses, and she has won multiple awards for her creative designs.

Photo of Paul AllenPaul Allen was senior editor of Rev magazine for many years, during which he acquired, edited, and wrote thousands of articles.  He continues to be in demand as a freelance writer and editor, and has a knack for bringing new life to any author's writing.  Paul knows how to take your words and enhance them so it sounds like you spent three times as much time as you really had to write them.  He's also a favorite for writers to deal with because of his smooth personality and attitude.  We think he was the first editor of a fairly formal magazine to have a soul patch.

Photo of Kerri LoescheKerri Loesche is one of the most incredible proofreaders on the planet, with nearly 20 years of experience.  It takes a special eye to find all the little things that change a manuscript from amateur to professional, and she has it.  Do you know when it's proper to use a semi-colon or an em-dash?  Or what an em-dash is?  Do you know which kinds of titles are supposed to be italicized, which underlined, and which in quotes?  She does—and those little spelling, punctuation, and formatting mistakes you overlook are exactly the things that show a publisher you're an amateur not to be taken seriously.  And she can do the research needed to make sure every citation meets the requirements of a publisher.  When she is through with your manuscript, any publisher will know that you are a professional.  She is thoroughly familiar with copyright law and filing requirements, and will get your work registered with the Library of Congress.
